Knowledge

'Abdullah ibn 'Amr ibn al-'As said, "I heard the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, say, 'Allah will not take away knowledge from His servants, but knowledge will be taken away as the men of knowledge are taken away until there is not a single man of knowledge left. Then people will take ignorant men for their leaders who will be asked something and give a fatwa (decision) without any knowledge. They will go astray and lead others astray.'" [Agreed upon]

The Burda of al-Busiri

"The Burda by al-Busiri is arguably the greatest classic poem in the Arabic language in praise of the character and exalted rank of the prophet Mohammad (peace and blessings be upon him) composed by Imam al-Busiri in the 13th century CE in Mamluke Egypt it has been recited ever since throughout Muslim lands from east to west and north to south, and has always been perceived as containing real benefits, blessings and miracles."

You

Your thoughts and presence
drive the senses away from worldly dimensions

Overwhelmed and lost
this slave turns to You

For who else should one ask
When You are the beginning and unto You is the end

You alone
and only You ,O Allah.

Hikam 106

"Whoever thinks His loving kindness

is ever separated from His ordaining fate

does so out of shortsightedness."

The Hikam of Sidi Ibn Ata`Illah translated by Sheikh Nuh Keller.

"Make our love for You the most beloved thing to us"

"Oh Allah... Make our love for You the most beloved thing to us,
And our fear of You the most fearful thing to us,
And remove from us all worldly needs and wants
by instilling a passion for meeting You,
And when You have given the people of the world
the pleasures of their world,
Make our pleasure in worshipping You."

Did Allah cause the Big Bang?

"The Big Bang relates to the instant at which the universe was brought into existence. According to scientific theory, the planets, the stars, and the elements as they exist in the universe today took a long time to develop. Things evolved over time, they were not created as-they-are-now in the first instant."

Answered by Sheikh Hamza Karamali on SunniPath.

If Love Crept through

'Every lover is shaken at the mention (dhikr) of his beloved...and if love crept through the marrow of your bones , you would long to hear the mention of God , even from an infidel , and you would say , as the Sultan of Lovers said :

"Mention of her is sweeter to me than all words else,
Even when alloyed by my censurers with their blame of me " '

Words of Sheikh Ahmad Al-Alawi [May Allah have mercy on him] from "A Sufi Saint of the Twentieth Century".

Riyad as-Salihin - "He stepped over people`s shoulders.."

Abu Sirwa'a 'Uqba ibn al-Harith said, "I prayed the 'Asr prayer behind the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, in Madina. He said the salam and then got up hurriedly and stepped over people's shoulders making for the room of one of his wives. The people were alarmed at his speed. He came out to them and saw that they were surprised at his speed and said, 'I remembered a piece of gold that we had and I did not want it to distract me so I ordered that it be distributed.'" [al-Bukhari]

In one variant, "I had left a piece of gold from the sadaqa in the house and I did not want it to remain with me overnight."

My First Entry -Something about SunniPath

I have been thinking of starting a blog for quite some time now.I think it`s about time I start.
Writing anonymously ,I have heard is helpful.May be it`s time I test this-just to know for sure.

Since this is the first entry on my blog, I`ll begin by mentioning a website, an online Islamic academy that has completely changed the direction of my life -and surely of many others as well.

http://www.sunnipath.com/

If you are seeking to learn Islam , from the comfort of your home, office ,school, hostel or where ever then please do enroll.I have been a student for a couple of months now and I wish I had more free time to do more courses on SunniPath.

The teachers, students,TAs ,CAs and the rest of the staff are all splendid.

I can go on and on about SunniPath , but I guess nothing comes close to joining a course and getting a first hand experience.Once one joins the SunniPath family its impossible to leave it.

SunniPath is a life transforming experience.May Allah swt bless the academy and all its staff for their tremendously beneficial work.Ameen.
